Splitting

First edition. Oblong. With the folding ill. pasted in as needed. Seminal artist's book documenting Matta-Clark's now legendary 1974 chainsaw-assisted drawing and quartering of an abandoned house located at 322 Humphrey Street in Englewood, New Jersey. "Splitting" (booklet, but also a film) has to be remembered as “one of the premier moments of a period in which anarchistic, architecturally oriented sculpture coexisted with Conceptual art.” cf. www.artic.edu/artworks/187171/splitting
